Blackwater Bay Description

Collier-Seminole State Park. The park offers opportunities for camping, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, fishing, photography, wildlife viewing, picnicking, and guided boat tours. Tent and recreational vehicle (RV) camping is available inside the park, and there is a backcountry campsite. The park encompasses 6,430 acres with 4,760 acres designated as wilderness areas. Most of the wilderness is mangrove forest, but there are also mixed-hardwood forest, coastal strand, and salt-marsh habitats. The Marco Blackwater River Canoe Trail traverses a designated wilderness preserve. In order to maintain its scenic value, there are few markers along the western portions of the trail between Palm Bay and Marker 47 located along Blackwater River. There are ample fishing opportunities in this area, and fish to target are spotted seatrout, snook, redfish, gray (mangrove) snapper, black drum, and sheepshead. Be sure to check on license requirements as well as fishing regulations and restrictions before wetting a line. Now-extinct Calusa Indians once inhabited this region.Blackwater Bay is at the tip of this great park.
