There's no excuse for not having fun in Polk County. The area offers recreational facilities and activities that appeal to all ages and interests. Polk County's tropical climate, with an average temperature of 72 degrees and ever present sunny skies, offers a perfect setting for the year round enjoyment of golf, tennis, baseball, jogging, bicycling, bass fishing and water sports. The county has no coastline but does have 600 beautiful lakes that are ideal for water sports. Polk County offers lovers of the great outdoors unlimited activities in its nature preserves and parks. Many of the county parks have boat ramps giving direct access to the lakes and rivers. Fish Camps and Campgrounds scattered throughout the county also offer lots of fun for everyone. At Winter Haven, a few nice bass showing up on days before approaching cold fronts. Steve Coleman netted 81/2-pounder on south chain in Saturday tournament. Phillip Roop boated 7.38-pound bass at Eagle Lake in Saturday tournament. Warming trend should see more big bass this week on south chain, Eagle Lake and other city lakes.

Eagle Lake is a city in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 2,496 at the 2000 census. As of 2004, the population recorded by the U.S. Census Bureau is 2,493.[1] It is part of the Lakeland?Winter Haven Metropolitan Statistical Area.
